Summer Open House

Arizona Milkweed for Monarchs, the Rotary Club of Sedona Village, and Sedona Bee Company produce a series of monthly Community Garden Open Houses all summer, at Big Park Community School, 25 W. Saddlehorn Court, Sedona, AZ 86351.

Explore community raised bed gardens and a Monarch Waystation garden. Engage with experts from Arizona Milkweed, the Rotary Club, and Yavapai County Master Gardeners. Enjoy presentations, hands-on activities, and family-friendly events. Learn about gardening, pollinators, and beekeeping. Connect with your community and support local conservation efforts. Join us for a morning of discovery and learning.

Fall Monarch Festival

Together with Arizona Milkweeds for Monarchs, the garden is open one day during monarch migration season for the community to visit the milkweed garden in full bloom and see the monarchs as they stop by to refuel for their long journey.
 
Milkweeds for Monarchs, Sedona Bee Co. and various non-profits hold a mini-fair with crafts for kids, products for sale and garden and butterfly educational presentations.

About the Rotary Community Garden

The Rotary Club of Sedona Village is in the fourth year of growing in the garden. Since we started the garden, we've built 23 raised beds, spread wood chips on many of the walkways and contributed over 1,500 pounds of vegetables to the Sedona Community Food Bank and Sedona Oak Creek Unified School District.
 
Master Gardener and Club member, Jane Peck, has shared her vision for the Community Garden as a place where everyone in the community can gather to learn and enjoy gardening to produce healthy, organic food. She has energized the programming of the space and initiated the monthly public Open House events.
 
The Community Garden is located at Big Park Community School on the baseball diamond on the north playground. This diamond, known as Doug Colletti’s Field of Dreams, is now a Field of Greens. Working with our location partner, the Sedona Oak-Creek Unified School District, we have created an opportunity to provide a community service that strengthens health, nature, life skills, and creates an atmosphere of cooperation and togetherness.
 
Garden Beds can be leased for $225 for the year, from April through March of the following year. There are currently Garden Beds available for lease now. Being a Garden Bed tenant gives you access to the garden area, and use of the compost pile, all year, at any time. 
Richardson Wright said, “a garden is a public service and having one a public duty. It is a man’s contribution to the community.” The Rotary Club of Sedona Village is committed to an ongoing contribution to the community through this garden project.
