Club members learned about Verde Valley Sanctuary from Tracey McConnell. VVSanctuary started 30 years ago with a group of women who were concerned about domestic violence in the area. Last year alone VVSanctuary served nearly 1,500 survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and over 2,100 youth. This not-for-profit organization completely embraces survivors. Understanding that pets are often the reason victims stay, the shelter is pet-friendly. From crisis hotlines, emergency shelter (even if that means partnering with a local hotel) to transitional housing, to support groups and legal advocacy, survivors are supported along every step of the journey to safety and a new life. Prevention is also essential to VVSanctuary's work. Youth Empowerment Services programs are presented to youth to teach about healthy relationships and violence prevention. You can help this incredible organization by shopping at the three Twice Nice Thriftiques. All proceeds directly support Verde Valley Sanctuary's services.
