The Howling Coyote Newsletter!
Edition 2, Issue 12
January 23, 2020

Welcome: Damian opened the meeting with gusto and announced that the meeting was really a Club Assembly. The tables had been formed into a square so everyone was facing each other. He reminded all what an Assembly was about “member issues and questions” and asked for all attendees to participate and bring up issues that the club needed to review and discuss.

Greeter: Peg was the greeter. Her Thought of the Day” was: “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” She led us in the Pledge and 4 Way Test.

Guests: Mari Martin (Carolyn’s daughter), Karen Tonkinson Hilton Hotels, and Alice Mader Sedona Charter School, Ken Rouse (soon to be inducted as a member).

Happy Bucks: None due to Assembly Agenda.

Imagination Library Fundraiser: February 23rd, Blazin M Ranch, Cottonwood. Western wear, silent auction…lots of fun to raise $ for Imagination Library.

Casino Night for Sedona Red Rocks HS Booster Club: Feb 8th,  Posse Ground Hub, $40 pp, buy tickets on line RRHS website, Robin has tickets too.

RYLA and Exchange Student meeting for 3 Sedona Rotary Clubs: RRHS, Performing Arts Center, Feb 18th, noon. $15 pp. pay at door or Jennette.

Membership Survey: Mark presented a “Rotary Meeting and Rotary Chat” survey for all attendees to fill out. He will compile the answers and provide a copy to all at Feb 9th meeting.

Membership Recruiting Social: Feb 25th  5-7pm,   JWine Bistro: appetizers and drinks provided. Mark asked all members to think about who they could invite to the social as a potential member.

Assembly:  there were several people who started the conversation of “why they joined Rotary.”  which moved to “We need to think out of the box regarding a signature event, to a new preschool at Big park school that needs funding, to What are Rotary International projects?? To How do we participate in those projects? To… we do need a signature project…. Carolyn handed out colored cards that could be used to note what “cause” we could participate in from an International, National, Verde Valley and Village perspective. She asked all attendees to fill them in and bring to the next meeting. Although we did not summarize this session, this scribe’s perception is that it was positive, and that we probably need to have more “Open Assemblies” in the future.

We adjourned at 8:30.
