We welcomed Jon Davis, Division Chief, with the Sedona Fire District to our second hybrid meeting. John is also a Rotarian with the Red Rocks Club. Jon retired from Oregon and moved to Sedona 5 years ago. He's been in fire service for 35 years. Jon shared some useful information about the Fire District with our club and guests including: - They provide fire service for 166 square miles in and around Sedona
- They provide ambulance service for 274 square miles in and around Sedona
- They provide services for 24,000+ residents and 4 million+ visitors a year
- 4,500 calls a year are made to the district
- They have 100 employees including support staff
- They have 5 stations
Sedona presents challenges with the entry and exit ways limited to the community. Their crew members are highly trained and work on tactical rescues, helicopter rescues, and so many more. But, they will also answer the call to get a cat out of tree, remove a snake from your property, help you if you are stuck in your recliner, or need your batteries replaced on your smoke detector. Fire season calls for cleaning out gutters of debris and trimming trees and brush around the residence. We're fortunate to have such a talented team in our community working for us and our safety!
