Club Updates
We had a great 2nd meeting of the Rotary year today! We were joined by guests from the Village and shared a morning of facts and fun.

Assistant Governor, Eric Young, joined us and presented a trophy to Jennette Bill for her work as president last year. Jennette accepted via zoom, and will surely place her new mantle piece in a perfect spot. Joining Eric was Lynette Prouty, president of the Rotary Club of Verde Valley in Cottonwood. Lynette and Heather had the chance to get to know each other during president elect training.

We added back into our meetings: 5 minute bios and hearing from our members. We will have the opportunity to hear from 2 members each month, one a long standing Rotarian and the other a newer club member. We kicked it off by hearing Rob Shaefer's background beginning with 8th grade, and on into his studies in theology, law school, and then traveling the world serving our country. His true loves right now have captured his heart, Tigger and Siri, miniature schnauzer puppies. Thank you, Rob, for sharing your story with us.

Then, we heard from Winnie Muench about her background and early graduation from college with an MBA at the age of 19. Yes, 19! She then went on to work for the University of Pennsylvania with strategic planning, and more. She shared what has brought her to Rotary, the Community Garden. During Covid, she became concerned about food shortage and the inability to grow our own. When she heard about the Garden through Carolyn Martin, she was hooked. Thank you for sharing with us, Winnie.

We also heard updates about the following:
  • Garden & Gab: this Saturday from 7:00am-9:00am. Enjoy coffee and a pastry and maybe even spread some wood chips.
  • Strategic planning session: first one was 7/12 and successful. Next meeting is 7/26 at 5:00pm in the classroom.
  • Labor Day Creek Clean Up- September 6. More details to come.
  • 100 Holes of Golf: September 26. Volunteers will be needed. Save the date!
  • Club budget and charitable fund budgets adopted for the year. Contact Heather if you'd like to have a copy.

To date: we've donated 75 pounds of vegetables from the Community Garden to the Sedona Community Food Bank!
