Veteran's Raffle- What did it do?
Today we were joined by Shana Shatzer, Tim Howe with the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System, and Cathleen Banister-Marx, daughter of the late John Cornelius. Shana & Tim provided the club with updates about how the nearly $10,500 proceeds from the Veteran's Benefit Raffle were used.
 
Shana & Tim shared information about the Center for Development & Civic Engagement at the VA, the various programs they have and the areas the funds impacted. Many wonderful meals were served for the residents on site at various times. One special meal was served during the holidays to brighten their day after being isolated for so long from the impacts of Covid.
 
Their program to benefit displaced or homeless veterans directly benefited from funds to help provide shoes, socks, and personal items for them. Some veterans arrive to their location barefoot, and simply in need of shoes and socks! The gratitude from Shana, Tim and Cathleen was overflowing. The enthusiasm from Phong to lead us this year in making the event better than ever was contagious. 
 
We look forward to a field trip in the near future to visit in person!
PROM CLOSET: VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

March 5 and March 12 - the Prom Closet will be at Mingus High School. The event will be open for shopping from 11am - 2 pm; set up begins at 9am and take down by 3pm.  We are excited to offer this FREE event to all local high school students who are attending their prom. This community service project is sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of the Verde Valley, Sedona, and our club, together with Mingus High School Hope Center/Family Outreach Center, and the Mingus Interact Club.

 
Volunteers needed: 6-12 volunteers on each day with jobs such as, check in/greeters; shopping assistants; dressing room attendants; photographer; check out/survey. If you would like to sign up, please email Verde Valley Club President: Lynette Prouty, rlprouty32@gmail.com.
