Welcome back David Gill- we missed you!
Welcome: Determined Damian brought the raucous group together about 5 minutes into the “regular” start time of 7:30! Too many vacations and events to quiet the membership down. He hit the bell…kinda…a little timid for this scribe’s liking. He called upon the Greeter Holly Johnson to lead the membership in the Pledge, 4 Way test and Thought of the Day which was: “Don’t let yesterday take too much of today!”

Guests: Ken Rouse (who promises to become a Rotarian “soon!”, Debbie Chanel-Gregor (to be inducted into membership today), and Rachelle Jarvis our local Vet who is applying for membership and went through Orientation 8-7, and  Omar Kenney, speaker for today, introducing The XYZ Organization.

Visiting Rotarians: Marge Wright, Sun Lakes RC

Happy Bucks:
It was Miki and Rob’s birthday and were appropriately serenaded with the Happy Birthday song.

Jack: thanks to Miki for her work on Taste

Damian: Thankful that school is open, and Dante is again in school, David and Betty back from their arduous trip, thank you Taste committee for long hours and leadership

David: Thankful for Rotarian support during his and Betty’s trip to Argentina and Peru.

If there were others my apologies…but time flies and my handwriting starts to lose coherency.

The raffle gift was presented by Holly which was a Gewurztraminer wine. Lori (a non wine drinker) won and promised to share with the Wino Chicks in the corner booth. Rotary teamwork at its finest!!

Sedona Village Facebook: Damian strongly urged all members to like our FACEBOOK page as it will help the club promote events and the club in general. You can like and follow the page here https://www.facebook.com/RotaryClubSedonaVillage/

Program: Omar Kenney presented a very good program on the “Sedona XYZ organization”. XYZ stands for the generations of people born in the X: (1965-1976), Y: 1977-1995), and Z: (1996 forward). The members are composed of business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals. The goal is to have a collective voice in both the City of Sedona and the Village of oak Creek. The membership is very diverse, economically, gender, race and age. They want to promote a sustainable community, support new businesses (entrepreneurs). They meet monthly but not in August due to vacations and school starting etc. They now have attendees of 15-30 at their meetings. They meet the 3rdWeds monthly at various locations. Their FACEBOOK page will provide details. Those outside these generations can join as well. Their accomplishments: encouraged a City Council debate, Civic engagement team, have speakers at each meeting, have spoken at various groups throughout Sedona and Village. They basically get people in these generation and those outside to come together and communicate regarding the community issues facing Sedona and the Village. A most interesting program.

We had a great meeting…full of energy and information about what our Rotary Club is and will accomplish in the near term. Please review our activities on our webpage.
