The Rotary Club of Sedona Village recently welcomed guest speaker Lynette Prouty, Board Chair of the Imagination Library program in our region. Lynette shared the mission and remarkable impact of this early childhood literacy initiative, which provides free books each month to children from birth to age five.
Initiated by country music legend Dolly Parton, the Imagination Library aims to inspire a love of reading and strengthen family literacy. Lynette noted that the program currently serves 1,800 children across the Verde Valley, helping foster a strong foundation for future learning and success.
Village Rotarians were inspired by Lynette’s passion and encouraged to spread the word about this invaluable resource for young children in our area.
Rotary Club of Sedona Village Supports Veterans with $15,000 Donation
At a Rotary-sponsored Veterans Picnic at the Prescott VA Hospital, Village Rotarians presented a $15,000 check to Shana Shatzer, Chief of the Center for Development & Civic Engagement. The funds were raised through the Club’s 2023 Veterans Raffle effort.
Thanks to a generous donation from Paul and Mara Majane, the picnic treated over 100 veteran residents to a classic cookout, with 20 Rotarians grilling and serving.
Since its founding nearly 20 years ago by WWII veteran Lt. John Cornelius, the raffle has raised over $300,000 to support veteran patients with daily essentials not covered by the VA. Col. Rob Schaefer, USAF (Ret.), leads the effort on behalf of the Club. THANKS ROB!
