Welcome: Dedicated Damian welcomed all to the Rotary Club meeting. Members stood and came to a hushed order. Damian once again recited the Rotary theme for this year “Rotary Connects the World” as well as the Vision statement.

Greeter: Gerri was the Greeter and provided the following Thought of the Day “My Grandfather once told me that there are two kinds of people: those who do the work, and those who take the credit. He told me to try and be in the first group, there was less competition there!”  by Indira Gandhi. She then lead all into the Flag salute and 4Way Test. There were no visiting Rotarians today. She also introduced our “kinda” guest Ken Rouse “who should be joining soon!”   In addition our speakers were introduced from the Green Bag Collection program. Barb Gordon and her partner (whose name I missed).

The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Moment:
John L. provided a very succinct view of TRF and “where does the money go?”
            $86 M to Grants
            $35 M to preventing disease
            $18 M to clean water
            $11 M to education
$10.5 M to creating sustainable local economies
$$7.2 M Children and Mother care
Where does your money go?
            Unrestricted fund (Annual Fund)
Designation into one of the 6 TRF Focus Areas
            Endowment Fund
            PolioPLus
Annual Fund: Money received in the Annual Fund is invested for 3 years. 50% goes on to furnish money for the Programs of Rotary, and 50 % comes back to the Districts for District grants who in turn grant to clubs. So the money you give to TRF half comes back for District grants to be used in your community!!

331 Project: Mark introduced a new Rotary Community service project. 331 stands for the address in the Village that the work needs to be done: 331 E. Lindsay (Yavapai Way, and Lindsay)  This is a home with a very disabled veteran (MS and cancer, and wheelchair restricted), firefighter, policeman, Fire hotshot and pilot. He is a widower, has a daughter who lives in Las Vegas and visits infrequently. He is too proud to ask for help. However I have talked with him twice and he understands the fire trap he is living in. So we have agreed to do a work day/cleanup at his home. The Sedona Fire Dept will support this (cut down big trees) as they know Craig very well…he just would not ask for help until now. Volunteers in his neighborhood might also help, along with a Cub scout pack from Verde Valley. Volunteers from Sedona Village Rotary will be doing yard clean up sprinkler system renovation, small tree pruning, bush removal. A 40- ft. dumpster has been donated FREE by Taylor and Sons waste management in Cottonwood. We are currently deciding on a date that won’t conflict with other Rotary events. More details will be announced soon.

Veteran’s Day: Monday Nov 11th is Veteran’s Day. Sedona Village RC is hosting an event at Sedona Winds. All members are invited. A sign up sheet and more details are forthcoming. Please note your calendar.

Halloween Party:
At the Von’s home, 10-26, 6pm to ??. Costumes are optional. Appetizers and desserts will be served. Bring your own favorite libation. There will be prizes for best costume, most creative carved pumpkin, and best Halloween joke. 20 have signed up.

Fundraisers Who Need leaders:
Grocery Grab: Has a full committee…needs a leader to step up.

Newsletter Scribe: Mark needs a backup. Takes notes at meeting and transfer notes to a WORD doc and sends to Heather to publish. The process has been set up. Requires 2 hrs of time.

World Polio Day: Needs a leader to step up soon. The date is Oct 24th.

Moonlight Madness: Needs a leader to step up. Planned for Spring 2020. The process and requirements are well documented from MM 1 and 2.

Program: The program today was “The Green Bag Collection.” Barb Gordon took us thru the process: food from the donor, to the Neighborhood Coordinator, to Steering Committee member, to the Food pantry. This is a national program. And is sustainable by word of mouth and having community meetings like Rotary Clubs. Results are remarkable. For all collection sites in Verde Valley (Cottonwood, Sedona, Village): 11K lbs collected, 814 bags, 717 donors, which provided 9,208 meals for people in the Valley. Barb provided lots of info which can be quickly obtained thru their website: verdevalleyfoodproject.org. It was established in 2013,  and is a 501c3 charitable organization.

Dynamic Damian thanked all for attending the meeting and we adjourned at 8:30
